Alliances are not permanent: Kushboo

BJP state vice-president Kushboo Sundar on Sunday asserted that political alliances are shaped by circumstances rather than permanence, even as she launched a sharp attack on the ruling DMK and former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam. Speaking to reporters at the Chennai airport, Kushboo said alliances in politics are fluid. “There are no permanent friends or permanent enemies in politics. Even Kalaignar Karunanidhi had said this,” she remarked, pointing to shifting political equations in the State.

Referring to past alignments, she noted that the late actor-politician Vijayakanth had never allied with the DMK during his lifetime. “Today, they may have taken a different call. That is their decision,” she said. Taking a swipe at Panneerselvam, Kushboo commented, “It is unfortunate. He seems to be looking around to see who will accommodate him.” The BJP leader also accused the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government of fiscal mismanagement, alleging that Tamil Nadu’s debt had surged to ₹10 lakh crore. Questioning the feasibility of welfare promises, she asked, “How will they provide ₹2,000 every month? One cannot make such announcements irresponsibly.

The DMK repeats this narrative during every election.” She further alleged that money and goods were distributed during elections without adequate police intervention. On the BJP’s electoral strategy, Kushboo said discussions on seat-sharing were ongoing following recent visits by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Tamil Nadu. “Several rounds of talks are under way, and announcements will be made at the appropriate time,” she said. Responding to speculation about her own electoral prospects, Kushboo said the decision on whether she would contest would be taken later. “Our primary aim is to take the Prime Minister’s schemes to the people. Securing a ticket is not the only objective,” she added. Ticker Kushboo slams DMK & OPS.
